When searching for something with Google the results include a lot of things we are not interested in.

If you see a lot of irrelevant results that use the same word often, you can eliminate them by a minus sign (-) and then the word you do not want the results to include.

examples:
MP3 players - Sales
flowers - daffodils

You can exclude specific sites from your results by writing " - site:" after the search word and then the site address.

example:
dogs - site: wikipedia.org

You can search inside a specific site using Google by writing the word you are interested in and then writing "Site:" and the sites address.

Here is an example for looking for information about SEO on the site ucandostuff:

Site: www.ucandostuff SEO

If you want the search results to include any synonyms of a word use "~"

example:
MP3 player ~ Radio

You can easily find specific file types with Google search by writing the file type after the word

examples:
banana filetype: doc
banana filetype: pdf

You can find out the meaning of words by using "define:" before the word.

example:
define medallion

Google will also act as a calculator. All you have to do is write what you want the result for

examples:
22 + 54
19 * 12

If you are looking for information for a certain range of numbers, time or measurements write them with 2 dots in between them

examples:
pollen count 400..700
native Americans 1492..1956
camera $22..$55

If you want information up to a certain number or time, write three dot before the number.

examples:
native Americans...2001
girls toys...$25

If you are looking for an exact phrase or combination of words put them inside of quotation marks.

example:
"houses with red roofs"

google will show result with these exact works in that exact order first

You can find out the weather or time in a specific place

examples:
weather NYC
time Boston

There are a lot of other cool things you can do on Google search.

You can convert measurements.

You can find out flight times by writing the airline and flight number:

You can check flight schedules from one location to another by writing "flights from" and then the locations.

You can see where a place is on a map by writing the location name or zip code.
