There may be times when you need a pentagon shaped paper for origami flowers, objects or decorations. This guide will show you how to fold and cut a pentagon from a square piece of paper.

Difficulty level: Beginners

Instructions:

Materials:
1 square sheet of paper
Scissors

Place the paper on the table with the points at the top, bottom and sides.

Fold it in half vertically.
unfold

Fold the paper in half horizontally.

Bring the top point down to the bottom edge. Do not crease, only pinch it to mark the halfway point.

Bring the top point down to the pinch mark you just made.

Starting from the bottom center, fold the right bottom edge up to the right side of the triangle flap you just created.

Starting from the same bottom crease point bring the left bottom edge up to the left side of the triangle shaped flap.

Starting from the bottom point of the flap you just made fold the right edge to align with the left edge.

Make a fold between the 2 flaps and unfold.

Flip the paper over to the back side.
fold the left side to the right along the crease you created in the last step.

Result
Now flip the paper over again.

Starting from the right top point bring the flap down and align the left edges. Make a crease.
unfold

Cut along the crease you just made.

Unfold the paper to see your pentagon.
