How to make a Chinese hat for a costume

This guide will show you how easy it is to make a Chinese hat.

Difficulty level: Beginners

Instructions:

Materials:
paper
Scissors
String or ribbon
Hole puncher or sharp pointed object to make a hole in the paper
Paper glue
Pen or pencil
Very large round object to trace circle or Cardboard strip and paper fastener

Draw a circle on the paper

The finished hat will be about ¼ less than the diameter of the circle
For this guide a circle 20 inches wide was used for a large adult size hat.
To draw a large circle see the guides on how to draw circles of any size.

Cut out the circle
Bring one edge to the opposite as if you were going to fold it in half. Crease only half way on one side

Rotate the circle and bring the top and bottom together as if you were going to fold it in half. Do not crease it, just make a pinch to mark the quart way.
