Materials:
1 paper plate
Corrugated cardboard
Round object to trace circle
Glue
Pen
A piece of paper
32 marbles

Find a circular object that is slightly smaller than your plate.

Trace 2 circles on thick corrugated cardboard

Cut out the circles and glue one on top of the other

Trace and cut out another circle on a piece of scrap paper

Fold the circle in half horizontally

Bring the bottom edge up to the top to fold the circle in half again

Fold in half one more time

Open the circle and repeat steps 4 to 6 to fold the circle vertically

Use 2 piece of tape to hold the paper circle you just folded on top of the cardboard circles

Use the points where the creases meet as a guide
Make a dot in the center with a dark pen or magic marker

Make 3 dots on both sides of the center dot
Make 3 dots above and below the center dot
Make a dot on both sides of the dots you just make – see picture for placement

It is important to pay attention where there are no dots

Use an old pen to punch holes through the dots.
Wiggle it around to enlarge the holes

Put a marble on the holes to see it it stay put. If not Wiggle the pen in the holes to enlarge them.

Remove the paper and glue the cardboard circle to the center of the plate
*the plate must be large enough to have a valley between it’s edge and the cardboards to put the removed marbles in.

You can paint the cardboard with undiluted gouache or acrylic paint before gluing it.* If you add water to the paint it will warp the cardboard.

Place the marbles in all but the center hole.

Your solitaire game is ready.

The goal of this solitaire game is to remove as many marbles as possible.

You "jump" one marble over another, either horizontally or vertically. The marble jumped over is removed. The jumping and removing part is similar to checkers. Continue until you have only 1 marble left.
