How to make costume wings

This guide will show you how to quickly make wings for a costume or play with things you have at home. It is a good project to do together with children.

Difficulty level: Beginners

Instructions:

Materials:
Large cardboard such as a box from a 6 pack of soda bottles

Scissors
Pen
String
Screw or sharp pointed object
White glue and paper glue
Paint , colored paper, crepe paper and any other things you might like to decorate them with

Open up the soda carton

Draw a wing shape on one of the large sides of the carton
Cut out the wing shape

Trace the shape on the other large side of the carton
Cut it out

Cut a piece of cardboard about 2 inches X 6 inches and glue it to the wings as shown in the picture

Mark 4 dots as shown in picture

Use a screw or pointed object to pierce holes through the marks. The holes should be large enough to pass your string through

The wings are ready to be decorated.

You can paint or glue anything you want to it, just do the same on each wing.

Here an outline was painted around the edges and on the center strip

The rest of the cardboard was painted in another color.
When it has dried paint the back side also

Pairs of different shapes were cut out so that there would be one of each on each wing

Whatever you choose to do make sure you do the same for each wing.

Here the shapes were glued to the wings.

When you have finished decorating the wings, put a string in through both holes on a wing.
It should be long enough so that it can be tied in front of the shoulder.

Put another string on the other wing.

Your wings are ready to wear.
