How to make a kusudama bouquet from book pages

This guide will show you how to make a beautiful bouquet using the pages of an unwanted old book. It makes a great flower arrangement for a gift. If the stems are wrapped in pretty ribbon it can be used as a wedding bouquet.

Difficulty level: Beginners

Instructions:

Materials:
An old book
Pearl beads
Floral stem wire
Floral tape
Paper glue
White glue

Cut the pages of the book into 60 equal size squares. *There are 12 flowers in this bouquet. Each flower uses 5 squares.

Place a square with the points at the top, bottom and sides.
Bring the bottom point up to the top point to fold it in half.

Fold the 2 side points up to the top point.
Make a sharp crease.

Fold the flaps you just made down at an angle to align them with the sides.

Result
Give them a sharp crease.

Unfold one of the folds from the last step and lift it up.
Stick your finger inside.
Press down on the crease of the edge sticking up to flatten it.
Repeat on the other side.

Flip the paper over to the back side.

Fold the side points neatly along the edge.
Give them a sharp crease and then unfold them.

Refold the points under the top layer.

Flip the paper back over to the front side.
Fold up the bottom edges of the side triangles to align with their inner edges.

Result
Put paper glue on one of the flaps you just made. *Shown in yellow in the picture.
Bring it around to align with the flap on the other side.
Do not crease the middle. See the next picture for the result.

Result. The petal is completed.
Repeat steps 2 to 11 to make 4 more.

Put glue on the closed edge of the petal.

Align another petal to the edge.

Repeat until you have glued 5 petals.
Put glue on the straight edge of the last petal and bring the first petal around to glue them together.

Result
Make 12 of these.

1. Slide a pearl bead onto the flower wire
2. Bend the top of the wire down and adjust the bead so that the holes are at the sides.
3. Twist the wire tightly.
4. Wrap floral tape down from the twisted part of the wire.

Put white glue on the area below the pearl
Insert the bottom of the wire in the center of the petals and slide the flower up to the bead.

1. Wrap a square of paper loosely around a pen. Put glue on the edge. *shown in yellow in the picture.
2. Wrap it closed.
3. Slide the tube off of the pen.

Insert the flower stems into the tube and adjust the flowers to form a slight dome shape.

Wrap floral tape around the tube and stems.
And your bouquet is ready!
